The Blondin Family History

Paul and Sue met when GM (aka Generous Motors) transferred Sue to the Flint SPO in July of 1979. We share many of the same interests (I've heard he actually married me for my jazz record collection) - music, golf ('tho he's much better than me!), computers (we were both programmer/analysts while at GM/EDS), warped sense of humor, and laid-back style. I'm constantly telling the kids, "I picked him for you!".

We first were friends, usually ended up migrating toward each other at group outings, started dating, and got married in July of 1981. We honeymooned in Jamaica. I remember talking with the travel agent we booked the trip through. She asked if our vision of Jamaica included night clubs and casinos, or what she should know was most important to us. I responded with an expression akin to horror, saying something like, "Geez, no! We're talking about lush waterfalls, beautiful beaches, snorkeling to check out the colorful salt water fish...!".

We started our family with Geoff, born in '86, and Garrett, born in '88. We surmised that we should quit while we're ahead (they're both t'riffic kids), as we both realized it's best your kids don't outnumber you. Besides, if I was traveling w the kids alone, I only had two hands... and, when we're traveling as a family, we like having a parent to each kid.

Early discussions on whether to have a computer at home now seem SO remote. Sue argued against it (working all day on computers, what the heck did we need one at home for besides as a glorified typewriter?!) and Paul arguing for it (...but you can keep the telephone book, recipe file on it!). Paul used it more at first (both of us have been golf league secretaries, but Paul made up a spreadsheet to log scores, calc handicaps, etc.) and now Sue's addicted! Probably a day doesn't go by when Sue's not checking e-mail or updating Quicken... not to mention playing Bejeweled or Tetris!! But, I digress....
