Garrett
Garrett's our youngest of two kids. It's now 2005 - my annual blog update - let's see... Garrett's mainly into Green Day, Blink 182, System of a Down, and probably those listed below still apply. Green Day probably should've been on last year's update, as methinks he's got all their CDs. He generally spends his allowance funds on music - music CDs, music posters, music tees, etc. You see the general theme here? Also likes hi-top (green) canvas sneakers - which seem to have replaced Vans Shoes. Music and spending hard-earned dollars at PacSun for his fav' jeans are where funds seem to go. In 2004, Garrett got his beginner's driver's license, liked heavy metal, and developed an aversion to doing things with his family except for when he wanted a lift to the malls. Geez, I can remember going thru that... Musically Garrett's into Nirvana, Linkin Park, AC/DC, Ramones, CKY, System of a Down, Goldfinger, and Blink 182 (in no certain order), and has recently started replacing his t-shirt collection of weird sayings with rock group tees. Also decided to replace all his cargo pants with jeans. This guy's getting to be expensive! Anything dealing with art seems to come naturally to him. He pretty much quit modeling except for art class assignments, but has done a series of Ninja monkey characters that are really kewl and methinks he'll be entering a sock monkey sculpture in an upcoming art exhibit. I guess the strange saying tees and cargo pants were a thing of 2003... as was Weird Al and all things Weird Al-ish. Garrett and his buddy Sam went to see Weird Al at DTE (formerly known as Pine Knob) that summer. In 2002 Bionicles fell out of favor. Ditto Harry Potter (tho' I'm hoping this reverses again). Seems they both became too popular for him to remain interested. My younger brother understands this... I do not. Musically in 2002, the 60s invaded our household. Garrett picked up CDs and jumped at the chance to change the radio station at any opportunity - either when traveling, or he and his buddies were just sitting in the family car. I think he was looking ahead to when the car's his... which troubled me more than I cared to admit! When I started this in 2001, he liked Nintendo 64, GameBoy, and PlayStation games. So much, in fact, that he'd decided to become a game developer when he grew up. He had some chapters developed for a game idea in the making. He was always really good at Science and Math and just seemed to tolerate his other classes! Maybe this programming thing is in his genes, 'cuz his mom and dad were both programmers, eh?! Another hobby that Garrett's really good in is in the Arts. He's especially good at modeling, mainly in clay. For a while he was making clay models of the Pokemon characters, and sometimes trading or selling the finished products. I'd snatched some of what I considered his finest examples to save... they're on my credenza at work. Lots of people admire them, and my gallery of pictures on the walls. This guy liked adventure parks, and told me his favorite vacations were of our family trips to Sea World in Ohio. We never made a trip to the Florida Sea World, but I'm betting he'd like that one too, and Lego Land in California. Lego's Bionicles were Garrett's other pastime. He and his buddies were into collecting them, and McDonald's even ran a promotion with their kids' meals. His buddy, Sam, had a Lego Studio and they were planning a movie about the Bionicles. For a short time, these guys seemed to have replaced his Pokemon "collection fever." |
