How
many brothers are in the chapter? |
|
A-Section
currently has 12 active members, while B-Section currently
has 19 active members. |
|
 |
I'm
not sure I have the money. How much does it cost? |
|
Take
a look at this Cost Sheet.
It breaks down the costs of living in the chapter house
and compares them to living in the dorms, the campus
apartments, and an estimate of renting a house. |
|
 |
What
kind of time commitment am I making when I join? |
|
Beta
is a lifelong commitment - just ask any member. At the
Delta Eta, we pride ourselves in continuing a tradition
of excellance that started almost 50 years ago. We are
committed to academic success, to campus involvement,
and to our community. To achieve the lofty goals we
set for ourselves, both individually and as an organization,
it takes the commitment of each individual member. As
you can see, we have reached our goals in the past,
and will continue to in the future, and all the while
we've enjoyed it! No doubt, you would too. |
|
 |
Do
any of the members share my major? |
|
The
Delta Eta has members in almost all the majors offered
at Kettering, including ME, EE, CE, CS, Management,
and Environmental Chemistry. It should not be problem
for you to find a member at the house who has had your
classes in the past, and who is willing to help you
in any way he can. |
|
 |
What
are some of the advantages to joining Beta Theta Pi? |
|
Leadership
opportunities abound! Because of the relatively small
membership numbers, you will be able to take on leadership
roles as soon as you enter the house. Scholarships to
attend the Institute
for Men of Principle, Futures
Quest, and UIFI,
and other leadership seminars are made readily available
by our general fraternity, especially for younger members.
Additionally, the Beta house provides a support system
and family-like atmosphere you wouldn't expect to find
away from home. |
|
 |
What
is the pledge progam like? |
|
It
is an eight week program designed to help the pledges
achieve academically at Kettering, while learning the
history of Beta Theta Pi. It is treated as a transition
period as the active members welcome the pledges into
the brotherhood. |
|
 |
What
kind of grades do Betas get? |
|
As
a chapter, the combined WAG of the sections competes
yearly for the Virginia Tech Award, which is awarded
by our General Fraternity to the chapter with the highest
GPA. We won the Virginia Tech award for our region for
the 2000-2001 school year. The Delta Eta is continuely
above the All-men's average at Kettering. A-Section
had the highest WAG among fraternities at Kettering
last year. |

 |
If
I join Beta, would I have to live in the house? |
|
No,
this is not a requirement of membership. Although we
encourage everyone to live in the house, we understand
for convience or other reasons, some may not want to
live there. We have no problem with that and we feel
strongly that a member can make a strong contribution
to the organization without living in the house. |
