 Dear Colleagues,

Kettering University has provided outstanding academic programs for many decades and is committed to continuing this legacy. To ensure that its programs remain current, relevant and cohesive, Kettering University wholeheartedly embraces the concept of student outcomes assessment. Student outcomes assessment will guarantee that Kettering programs remain at the forefront of educational programs in a rapidly changing academic environment.

This website has been prepared to provide easy access to Kettering University assessment plans and results for Kettering faculty and staff, accrediting agency evaluators and interested colleagues from other institutions. It is impossible to put everything that is done relative to assessment by all faculty and staff on a website. But I believe that this site presents the core of what Kettering is doing to ensure that its graduates achieve the expected outcomes and objectives. It also shows how the results of the assessment process are used to make improvements in Kettering courses and curricula.

Every department and degree-granting group is represented on this website. Program educational objectives and program outcomes are clearly stated and linkages between them are shown. Course information is given, including the relationship of course learning objectives to program outcomes. All assessment tools are described. Constituencies are clearly identified. The cornerstone of this method of reporting assessment results in the five-column format, which includes statements of mission and educational objectives, program outcomes, assessment methods and standards, assessment results, and lastly, how the results are used to improve programs.

I wish to thank Dr. Matthew Sanders, Associate Professor of Industrial Engineering, for preparing this website.

If you have any questions or comments for improving the website, please submit them to Dr. James Luxon at jluxon@kettering.edu.

Sincerely,

John D. Lorenz, Ph.D., Vice President for Academic Affairs & Provost
