Classical Runge–Kutta,
Runge–Kutta–Fehlberg, and
Runge–Kutta–Verner Methods

Dr. Kevin G. TeBeest

  1. I covered the Classical Runge–Kutta method thoroughly in class and handed out an example. You should understand this method, know its global error, etc.
Recall that this is a running assignment.

  2. I discussed the Runge-Kutta-Fehlberg method in class. I outlined how the method works, what it does, what makes it special, its global error, and its pros and cons.
You should be familiar with what we discussed in class and with how the method works.
Otherwise there is no homework on the Runge–Kutta–Fehlberg method.

  3. When using the Runge-Kutta-Fehlberg method, what should we do if Explain clearly in a complete and coherent sentence.

  4. I also covered the Runge-Kutta-Verner method. in class. I outlined how the method works, what it does, its gloabl error, and its pros and cons.
You should be familiar with what we discussed in class and with how the method works.
Otherwise there is no homework on the Runge–Kutta–Verner method.

See this handout for the Runge-Kutta-Fehlberg formulas.
