The Society of Physics Students (SPS) is professional physics association explicitly designed for students. Membership is open to any student; the only requirement for membership is an interest in physics.
Some of the goals of the society include (borrowed from the "seven roles of SPS")
- promoting science literacy and appreciation through physics outreach programs to grades K-12 and the general public
- providing students with a gateway to other professional physics societies
- enhancing students' professional development, communication skills, leadership qualities, and professional networking in ways that cannot be realized in course work alone
- informing students of the many various career paths available to someone with a physics background
- providing opportunities for social interaction between physics students and their peers
The Kettering University chapter of SPS was established in April, 1998, and we anticipate installing a chapter of the physics honor society, Sigma Pi Sigma in the Winter of 2002. Please contact Dr. Russell (SPS Advisor) or any of the current SPS members if you are interested in joining.
You might recognize this famous physicist, but can you identify the other faces on our menu?
