The Delta Chi Fraternity

General Information

Kettering-A chapter was started as a dry and substance free fraternity. We set for ourselves a high standard for its members, associate members, and alumni. Academics are a key part of our standards. We encourage individuality, as well as our independence and diversity. High community involvement, personal growth, personal enrichment are all goals we have for our chapter and its members. We also try to portray the "gentleman" image. We are not into loud parties like most fraternities, but we do attend some on occasion. We have an annual semiformal, alumni dinners, retreats, and "get togethers" consisting of dining out, movies, pool, bowling, cards, board and computer games and other such events.

Why are there a Kettering-A and Kettering-B Chapters?

Many people have asked this very question. To understand why there are 2 chapter, you must first understand the university. At Kettering University, there is A-Section and B-Section. A-Section goes to school from January - March (11 weeks) and July - September (11 weeks). B-Section goes to school from April - June (11 weeks), and October - Dec. (11 weeks). While one section is at school, the other section is on a work term with their respective Co-Op employers, and the sections constantly switch back and forth. There is also Zero-Section...a 3 week break over the summer. At least it's a summer break.

Understanding this, there is a Delta Chi for each section. Kettering-A and Kettering-B chapters have separate charters, separate members, and separate officers. We still share the same chapter house, because we are not on campus all at the same time. Our chapters are tied closely together, because if one chapter is not strong, it will hurt the other chapter. We both have to help each other out in times of need, and work together when it comes to chapter house issues. The chapters are different in many ways, yet share a few common goals and ideas. We share the same ABT and Housing Corp.
